Help Cap Carbon Emissions in New Mexico
7-8 pm, August 16-20
33 Plaza La Prensa, Santa Fe
It is time to establish carbon emission caps for New Mexico. It would appear that the U.S. Senate is not going to act anytime soon, so establishing more local caps on carbon emissions are needed now. The New Mexico Environmental Improvement Board (EIB) will hold hearings during the week of August 16 in consideration of establishing carbon caps. Please get involved and attend one of these meetings. Speak out and provide moral support for the clean energy side.
It is game time, and thanks to everyone who has helped get the climate change case in front of the Environmental Improvement Board – hearings begin on August 16th. It is going to be an exciting week with witnesses such as Winona LaDuke, Bill McKibben, and Paul Epstein.
We need your help to demonstrate to the EIB, the media, and policy makers that there is a strong support for clean energy and climate solutions in New Mexico. However, we are expecting fierce opposition. With your help we will provide a vision of a more healthy and just society powered by clean energy.
Public testimony will be held from 7 pm to 8 pm each night, August 16-20. You can speak to the EIB for up to 3 minutes and it should be about how you feel that global warming will impact the health, economy, and environment of New Mexico and why you believe the cap would be beneficial.
Directions: Heading South from Santa Fe toward Albuquerque on I-25, Merge onto Cerrillos Road/NM-14 N via Exit 278B. Turn LEFT onto W Frontage Road/I-25 W Frontage Road. Turn RIGHT onto New Mexican Plaza. Turn LEFT onto Plaza La Prensa and end at 33 Plaza La Prensa, in Santa Fe.
